What does Adhesive mean?

An adhesive is a substance used to make the back of a material sticky, typically in the form of an adhesive spray. This is usually needed when sewing a patch, a label or a piece of fabric to ensure it stays in place while the needlework is completed.

With a sticky backing, the presser foot of our embroidery machines does not cause outer edges to rise and the needle can follow its path more consistently. Thus, to obtain best results with the borders of a patchwork, it’s required to add an adhesive on the back which involves more manipulations.
